Grandma's Southern Style Homemade Biscuits



THE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt]
  • 7 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter cut in small slices
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing


DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven 425 degrees
  2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt & baking soda in large bowl.
  4. Cut butter into flour mixture until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Make a well in flour mixture. Pour in 3/4 cup buttermilk, stir until just mixed.
  6. Turn dough onto floured work surface, pat together, turn again and pat together again, continue to knead a few more times.
  7. Roll dough on a floured surface to about 1/2" thick.
  8. Cut out 12 biscuits using a 2 1/2" young biscuit cutter.
  9. Put biscuits on baking sheet. Press an small indent into the top of each biscuit with thumb or finger.
  10. Bake in preheated oven until browned, 15 minutes.
  11. Allow to cool. Brush each biscuits with melted butter....
